Choosing your first bra
When you need one, how to find your size and what to look for.
3 min
There's no right time. Start when you feel uncomfortable without one, when you do sport, or simply when you want to.
Size
- Measure under your breasts: that's your band size.
- Then measure at the fullest part: the difference gives your cup size.
- Always try it on in the shop.
What to look for
- Soft cotton with no seams.
- The band sits flat and doesn't ride up your back.
- The straps don't dig in or slip.
- Pick a separate sports top for sport.
Your size will change as you grow, so don't buy a lot at once. Going with your mum, sister or a friend can make it easier.
