Washing and caring for your hair
Hair changes in your teens. A few simple habits keep it healthy.
3 min
Your hair may get greasy faster in your teens. That doesn't mean you're dirty, it's just hormones at work.
Washing
- Wash it when it needs it. Some people need every day, others twice a week.
- Put shampoo on the roots and conditioner on the ends.
- Use warm water, not hot.
- Press with a towel instead of rubbing.
Brushing
Wet hair snaps more easily. Start at the ends with a wide comb and work your way up slowly.
Heat and dye
Straighteners and dryers dry your hair out. Don't use them often and start on the lowest heat. Talk to a parent before dyeing, because some dyes irritate the skin.
